Stats Analysis 4

  • Tricky Questions should be used BEFORE results are released, to catch possible “typos” in the official answers.

  • Easy Questions: could be discarded or improved.

  • Hard Questions: may be badly worded or deal with a poorly understood part of the curriculum.
This can inform future teaching emphasis.

  • Unpopular choices: should be replaced by more plausible choices to be useful.

  • Avoided Questions: may refer to topics outside the curriculum. They should be improved or discarded.

  • Test Length Indicator: For a 100 question test, if only the last few questions are left blank, the number will be high (say, 90), indicating that the test is too long. If blanks are random, the number will be closer to the middle (50).
